> ysclid is **a click identifier that Yandex Search appends to the address of a result you click**. It lets the destination site's analytics tie the visit back to a Yandex search click. The page loads the same without it, and LinkClean strips it on every site.

## What ysclid is

Click a result on Yandex and the address you land on can end in `?ysclid=` followed by a short string of letters and digits. The site you are visiting did not put it there. Yandex added it on the way out, the same way Google Ads adds `gclid` and Microsoft adds `msclkid`.

The value is unique to the click. A site running Yandex Metrica can read it and attribute the visit to Yandex Search.

## ysclid, yclid and ymclid

Three Yandex parameters look alike. [yclid](https://linkclean.app/trackers/yclid/) is the click ID for Yandex Direct, the ad platform. `ymclid` belongs to Yandex Market. `ysclid` is the one that appears on results from Yandex Search itself. LinkClean removes all three.

## How LinkClean removes it

Default-on and global: the name is specific enough to Yandex that it is stripped on any host. AdGuard's tracking-parameter filter, Brave and Firefox's tracking protection remove it too.

Yes. It is read by analytics, not by the page. The address works the same without it.

**Why does a link someone sent me have ysclid on it?**

Because they found the page through Yandex and copied the address after clicking. The identifier from their click travelled with the link.
