What is srsltid?

What srsltid actually does

Google Shopping (the Shopping tab on Search, plus free Product Listings rolled out in 2020) uses srsltid to identify which specific listing on the results page got the click. The value encodes the result-position, the merchant feed entry, and the campaign/free-listing context.

On the destination — typically the merchant's product page — srsltid is read by Google's conversion-tracking script (or by the merchant's analytics if they wire it up) to credit the visit to the Shopping result.

Why it shows up on links you didn't expect

Shopping listings can syndicate widely — into Google's universal search results, into category pages on partner sites, into Google Lens product searches. Any of those click paths can carry srsltid. So forwarded product links sometimes have it attached even when neither sender nor recipient went through the Shopping tab directly.

How LinkClean removes it

srsltid is in LinkClean's default ads catalog, stripped on every host. The merchant's product page doesn't need it — the path resolves the product on its own.

Frequently asked

Is srsltid on free Shopping listings, or only paid?

Both. Google Shopping went freemium in 2020 — most product listings are now free, with paid ads mixed in. srsltid lands on both flavours.

Does the merchant see srsltid?

Only if they've wired conversion tracking. The URL routes on the path; srsltid is metadata for whoever is reading it (Google's conversion-tag is the primary reader).

Will the product page still load?

Yes. srsltid is purely attribution metadata.
