What is sc_click_id?

What sc_click_id does

Snap Pixel (Snap's destination-tag) reads sc_click_id and reports the click back to Snap Ads' attribution. Same job as fbclid for Meta — tie the click to the ad impression and the Snapchat session that saw it.

Snap Ads were launched in 2016; the URL-based click ID became the dominant attribution mechanism after Apple's App Tracking Transparency (iOS 14.5, 2021) made cross-app identifiers unreliable. Like Meta and Google, Snap moved attribution into the URL.

How LinkClean removes it

Default-on. Same pipeline as the other vendor click IDs.

Frequently asked

Is sc_click_id mainly mobile-app or web?

Both. Most Snap Ads link to an App Store install or a web destination from iOS / Android, so sc_click_id lands on whichever flavour the campaign targets.

Did Snap have a different click ID before sc_click_id?

Pre-iOS-14 Snap relied more heavily on the IDFA + Snap-Pixel cookie. After ATT broke that, sc_click_id became the primary attribution surface.

Clean tracking on iPhone, in one tap.

LinkClean strips ~80 vendor-specific tracking parameters from any link, from any app's share sheet — and preserves functional ones like hl, t (YouTube timestamp), and q (search). No account, on-device.
