> rdt_cid is **Reddit Ads' per-click identifier** — the Reddit equivalent of fbclid. Attached to outbound clicks from Promoted Posts and other Reddit Ads surfaces.

## What rdt_cid does

Reddit Pixel reads rdt_cid on destination pages and attributes the click back to the Reddit Ads campaign. Same architecture as Meta Pixel + fbclid.

Reddit Ads matured later than its competitors (the modern ad-targeting platform launched around 2019). rdt_cid is therefore relatively recent — most Reddit-Ads-attributed click tracking pre-2019 ran via the older promoted-post mechanism without URL-based identifiers.
