What is rdt_cid?

What rdt_cid does

Reddit Pixel reads rdt_cid on destination pages and attributes the click back to the Reddit Ads campaign. Same architecture as Meta Pixel + fbclid.

Reddit Ads matured later than its competitors (the modern ad-targeting platform launched around 2019). rdt_cid is therefore relatively recent — most Reddit-Ads-attributed click tracking pre-2019 ran via the older promoted-post mechanism without URL-based identifiers.

Frequently asked

Is rdt_cid the same as fbclid?

Same shape (per-click identifier added to outbound URLs), different ad network. fbclid for Meta; rdt_cid for Reddit.

Did Reddit Ads always have rdt_cid?

No. It came in with Reddit's modernised ads platform around 2019. Earlier sponsored-content systems didn't use URL-based click IDs.
