What is mc_tc?

What mc_tc adds on top of mc_cid + mc_eid

Mailchimp's tracking can record three things per click: which campaign (mc_cid), which subscriber (mc_eid), and which specific link inside the email was clicked (mc_tc). The third dimension lets Mailchimp's analytics measure CTAs separately — e.g. how many people clicked the hero button vs the footer link in the same email.

mc_tc carries no personal identity on its own (it identifies the link, not the person). But it always rides alongside mc_eid, which does.

How LinkClean removes it

Default-on. Stripped with the rest of the Mailchimp trio.

Frequently asked

Is mc_tc personal data?

Not on its own — it names the link, not the recipient. But it ships alongside mc_eid (which is identity-bound).

Why does Mailchimp need a per-link ID?

Different CTAs inside the same email need separate click-counts for A/B testing and per-CTA conversion attribution.
