Parameter: `linkId` · Category: Affiliate · Vendor: Amazon Associates

> linkId is **part of the Amazon Associates link format**, the set of parameters an affiliate link carries so Amazon can credit a sale: `tag` (the affiliate's ID), `linkCode`, `linkId`, and on older links `camp`, `creative` and `creativeASIN`. None of them addresses the product, and LinkClean strips them all on Amazon storefronts.

## What each parameter records

`tag=` is the one that matters commercially: it is the Associates tracking ID of whoever published the link, usually ending in a number such as `-20`. `linkCode=` names the kind of link the affiliate generated, and `linkId=` identifies that particular generated link.

Older links add `camp=` and `creative=`, numeric codes for the campaign and the ad format, and `creativeASIN=`, which repeats the product's ASIN.

## What it means for the person you send it to

An affiliate link is not harmful. It does mean that if the recipient buys something, a third party is paid a commission, and Amazon records which publisher's link led there. Forwarding one passes that attribution on. Cleaning the link sends the product and nothing else.

## How LinkClean removes it

Default-on, scoped to Amazon's storefront domains. `creative`, `camp` and `linkId` are ordinary names on other sites and are left alone there. `th=` and `psc=`, which select the variant, are kept. AdGuard's filter, Brave and Firefox strip `linkId` on Amazon; ClearURLs and Firefox strip `creative` and `creativeASIN`.

If you want the affiliate to be credited, switch `tag` off in the parameter list or share the original link.

## Example

Looks like this in a URL: `https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0TEST1234?tag=example-20&linkCode=ll1&linkId=abc123def456&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0TEST1234&th=1`

After LinkClean: `https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0TEST1234?th=1`

## Frequently asked

**Is linkId personal to me?**

No. It identifies a link an affiliate generated, not the person clicking it.

**Which parameter is the affiliate ID?**

tag=. It is the Associates tracking ID, and it is the one that decides who earns a commission.

**Does the product page work without them?**

Yes. The ASIN in the path addresses the product.
